Keep up the pace

Take time to do the things that you love so you can get through the work you don’t enjoy.

We were all anxious about the new year. The past two years have not been easy. Many people are cautiously optimistic and hopeful that they will find normalcy. Perhaps you had a vision board for 2022, if they are still around. You may have big goals for yourself and your family. Maybe you wanted to start a business, learn a new skill, or make your home more Pinterest-worthy. Now that January is over, it’s time to evaluate your progress towards the goals.

Have you ever stopped to think about how far you have come? The world has seen immense loss, and many people still face uncertainty. There is something to be celebrated if you find any motivation or inspiration in all of this. Be kind to yourself and reflect on what you have accomplished.

Do you ever take a moment to check in with yourself throughout the day? Are you noticing how your body reacts when you experience aches or pains? Do you ignore your emotions, or become overwhelmed by the negative thoughts and feelings that are playing in your mind? This blog’s title should read, “Don’t Pick up the Pace”, as that is what I am suggesting. Slow down, take a few deep breathes and reduce your to-do lists.

You will be able to do the things that you love and still have time to complete the tasks you don’t enjoy. Your goals should align with your values and your vision for the future. Your goals don’t need to conform to the standards of social media or the neighbors with green grass (and whose kids don’t spill juice on the backseat or leave snackcrumbs behind).

Make time every day to find meaning and take action. Sometimes, taking action requires that you take time to rest and not push yourself beyond your limits. Slow and steady wins the race. Lead with love, as always.
